Zouk Tea Bar & Grill

Last night I had the pleasure of visiting Zouk Tea Bar & Grill in Manchester to sample their new menu. Located just off Oxford Road, Zouk is a local hot-spot serving up Indian delicacies and a variety of cocktails, mocktails and drinks. Sit inside and enjoy watching the chefs cooking your food, as well as the plush cream decor, or enjoy the covered floral terrace with heaters available on cooler evenings.

I've visited Zouk a number of times now and have never been disappointed by the food, atmosphere or service so I was really honoured and excited to be invited down as a PR guest.

Upon arrival, we were seated inside (upon request) and I noticed how chic the decor was. Filled with cream leather booths and seating, contrasting with the dark wood tables, an open chef station and vibrant, well-lit bar, I was very impressed. I've never been inside before so it was really nice change.

For starters, we opted for 2 small plates to share.

The Butter Chicken Bao Buns have caught my eye every time I've visited Zouk previously and for some reason, unbeknownst to me, I haven't ever ordered them! This was one of the best starters I've ever had. Hands down.

The butter sauce was unreal and the bao buns were soft and fluffy. My only criticism is that there wasn't more!

Next up, the Wagyu Sliders. Again, these mini burgers have been on my list to try for a while. The beef was delicious and the cheese melts in your mouth. Served with pickled gherkins, this dish was delicious.

Although the burgers seemed quite small, they were the perfect size for a starter as I couldn't barely finish my main course after!

For my main course, I opted for a coconut curry. I'm not a huge fan of spicy food so this milder dish was the perfect option for me. It did not disappoint. The prawns were so soft and cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dish and would definitely order this again. The rice doesn't come with the curry so there is the option to select from a number of different rice or bread dishes as a side. I opted for pilau as it is often fairly plain and works well with a fragrant curry.

The Lamb Shank Biryani was insane. The lamb was really succulent and fell off the bone. There is the option to choose the level of spice, as well as the sauce that you would like.

Zouk offer a number of different Biryani dishes but this is the only one that comes with the addition of the Filo Pastry. This naan-style covering was lovely and really made the dish extra special. I loved the presentation too as it is served in a little black pot.

We also enjoyed a cocktail each:
- a Mai Tai; and
- the Royal Raspberry Mojito.

The drinks were strong which I liked and both full of flavour. I particularly loved the presentation of the Mai Tai.

Thank you so much to the staff at Zouk for making my visit so lovely. The service was impeccable and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and vibe.

I can't wait to return again very soon!
