An evening with Ewe

On Friday I was kindly invited down to Ewe Restaurant in Bolton to try their brand new menu.

Ewe is a modern restaurant and bar, with elegant decor featuring a grand piano, pampas and velor boothed tables.   Opened in late 2022, Ewe is quickly becoming a popular local venue in Bolton, seeing many people venture outside of Manchester City centre to dine here.

We sampled a variety of dishes from the menu- 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts, washed down with an ice cold bottle of Prosecco.

The presentation of this dish is just beautiful. The variety of colours makes it visually appealing to the customer.

This was light and fragrant, with a mixture of flavours and textures. I would recommend eating this with a little bit of everything in one bite for maximum flavour.

This is easily one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I know that is a biiig statement to make but wow. Everything just works so well together- from the chicken and the sauce, the pak choy and the prawn crackers to mop up the excess sauce…

If you order a starter, it has to be this in my opinion. 10/10!

You can’t beat a grilled chicken sometimes and this dish was full of flavour. Grilled in rosemary and paprika, the lightly spiced chicken tasted really fresh and was far from bland. I loved the sweetcorn and tomato salsa served on top which added extra flavour again! I love coleslaw and the red cabbage was really tasty.

This dish doesn’t come with any sides so I would recommend ordering some fries or something to go with it! We opted for the Skin on Fries which were delicious.

The Beef Wellington was absolutely out of this world. I had my eye on this dish pretty much as soon as I received the invite as I saw it on Ewe’s social media page and it looked divine!

It definitely didn’t disappoint. The beef was really tender and complemented the soft pastry shell perfectly. The mash was creamy and the gravy full of flavour.

If you love a meat dish, I would definitely recommend this. A must try!

Again, the presentation here is second to none. This was a gorgeous dessert with a fruity/tangy taste. I particularly loved the coconut and maple clusters- dipped in the sauce, these were delicious and added a different texture to the soft dessert. The sorbet was also a lovely touch and offered a tastier alternative than a simple vanilla ice cream scoop.

If you love a fruity dessert, this is definitely for you!

My favourite dessert is usually something really chocolatey but I was quite full after the starter and main and wanted to try something lighter. This was incredible.

The cream had a subtle strawberry taste which was perfection. Mixed with the fresh strawberries, mini meringues and crushed biscuit, this was full of different flavours and textures and was honestly amazing! I would happily opt for this again over something heavy and chocolatey.

Can we also just appreciate the presentation of this dish too?! The flowers make this so pretty and I love that it is served around one edge of the dish. Beautiful!
