What we ate & drank in Krakow: March 2023

Krakow is honestly one of the best cities I’ve visited in terms of bars and restaurants. There are really cool places every corner you turn! We were a bit worried as we didn’t book anywhere until last minute and everywhere was fully booked. We turned up to all of the below places without a reservation and were absolutely fine so I definitely recommend just having a wander and seeing where looks good, as well as having some places in mind to try!

The Jewish Quarter is a great place for bars as the streets are filled with them and from around 7/8pm this area comes alive. I also recommend the back streets around the main square (anywhere a 5-10 minute walk of this area should have quite a lot of options)!

Here’s what we ate and drank in Krakow (with prices).

Pizza, Lemonade & Aperol Spritz - £14

I had seen Pizzatopia all over TikTok as a recommended restaurant and after a long journey travelling, we wanted alll of the carbs! This was just a 5 minute walk from our apartment, located in the Jewish Quarter, and is a great place for a quick, low key meal!

You can either choose a pizza off the menu or make your own from scratch. I opted for the Planty - chicken, bbq sauce, ricotta and spinach - which was incredible! The dough was really light and we didn’t feel too overfaced. My friend created her own vegetarian pizza which she loved too.

I couldn’t believe the price of this meal but it was to become a theme for the trip!

Pistachio Croissant & Apple Juice - £3

We stopped at this cute little cafe just off the main square, on our way to the Salt Mines. They sold croissants filled with pistachio cream which were honestly out of this world- I haven’t tasted anything like it. I neeed to find somewhere in the UK that sells these.

A very cheap breakfast sat outside in the sunshine admiring the beautiful views of the church and watching the world go by. This was a dreamy breakfast choice!

Burger, Diet Coke & Hugo Spritz cocktail - £24

This was more of a pricy meal compared to other Polish restaurants as it was right on the main square. However the food was so lovely and it was really pleasant to sit outside overlooking the main square / town hall.

Meg opted for the traditional vegetarian dumplings, referred to as “Russian style”. These are a polish delicacy and are recommended across Krakow as a main traditional dish to try!

I would definitely recommend at least a drink in one of these places if the weather is nice and dry. There are blankets and fire heaters for the colder days also! Definitely worth the extra ££ for one meal/drink.

Bottle of Prosecco - £10

This bar is, shock, a neon bar- filled with dim lights and neon signs. It’s a really cool, chilled vibe which is perfect if you’re looking for something more relaxed and a place to have a chat.

They serve food too but we just went in for drinks. We got a bottle of Prosecco which worked out at just £10 which is a quarter of what you can get it for in a Manchester bar- crazy!

I really liked it in here and it was the perfect place to start the night.

Cocktail Fishbowl & 5 Cocktail Shots - £22
Candyfloss Cocktails - £5 each

This is honestly one of the best bars I have ever been to, not just in Krakow but anywhere! It had an array of seating areas with tucked away booths, open seating and high stool tables. There were also several ‘Instagrammable’ photo spots including the swing, ball pool, bath & the phone booth seating areas. There was also a club style section.

I couldn’t believe how cheap the drinks were. We got a massive (and I mean massive- the photos do not do it justice) fishbowl cocktail sharer and 5 cocktail shots for £22! Something of this size in Manchester would cost around £100 without the shots so we were amazed. The cocktail sharer was really strong too. We also loved the candy floss cocktails. They were so pretty and really nice!

There is also a happy hour where drinks are even cheaper - around £4 for 3 cocktails! This is between 5:30pm and 7pm.

I’d definitely recommend this for a date night or a fun night out with the girls! This is a must visit if you’re going to Krakow.

Breakfast, Fresh Orange Juice & 70cl Water - £13

This was honestly one of my favourite meals of the whole trip, if not in a very very long time! The sourdough bread was so thickly sliced and the eggs were delicious. I opted for a different choice than usual, as I always get avo toast, and it didn’t disappoint. The presentation was also unreal.

Gorgeous, authentic Turkish restaurant located in the Jewish Quarter. You have to try here if you’re looking for a cute brunch spot in Krakow!

Brownie Dream Chimney Cake - £3.70

Wow. That pretty much sums this up. This is genuinely the best dessert I’ve ever had. The outer cake tasted very similar to a churro and it was served warm, so you can imagine how unreal that was. It was filled with chocolate sauce, a generous amount of brownie bites, ice cream and toffee sauce.

This was located really close to the castle and there is a cute little square at the bottom that you can sit and enjoy your cake before walking up to the castle. A must!

If you’re looking for a city break that offers a variety of food and drink, Krakow is definitely the one!
