5 things to do in Krakow, Poland

Krakow is a city filled with things to do and see. From history, to architecture, to restaurants and bars- there’s something for everyone.

Here’s 5 things I recommend doing if you’re visiting Krakow!

As soon as we planned to go to Krakow, the Salt Mines were at the top of our list to visit and they were so worth the visit. You can buy a ticket that includes travel to/from Krakow centre but we caught the bus (included within our 24hr travel pass) and it dropped us right outside. This saved us quite a lot of money so it is definitely worth doing if you’re trying to do Krakow on the cheap!

Make sure you arrive 20 minutes before your tour starts as they may not let you in otherwise.

The Salt Mines were breathtaking- I couldn’t believe just how big they were and it was fascinating to hear all about the history of the mines. There were a lot of steps (we walked around 10k steps in 2 hours) so do prepare yourself for this. However most of the tour is flat and there are regular opportunities to sit down if you need to.

You can buy tickets there but it gets very busy so I recommend buying them in advance online as you can secure the time slot and date you want. To book or for more info, click here.

A standard ticket is around £22 and with a transfer is around £34-£37 if booked on Get Your Guide - shop here.

A walking tour is, in my opinion, one of the best ways to see a city and to learn all about its history. We opted for the Jewish Quarter walking tour as there was so much history in this area and we really wanted to learn more, as well as paying respects to the Jewish people that lived here.

This tour was fascinating - not only did we learn about the Nazi occupation of this area and the historical events that occurred here, we also learnt so much about Jewish culture (which is still relevant to some communities today). I would highly recommend this tour - our guide was so knowledgeable and really engaged us throughout.

This tour was free but we gave our tour guide £10 as a thank you. To book this tour (or others), click here.

The Royal Castle is yet another must see attraction when visiting Krakow. We unfortunately missed the last time to go into the castle as we arrived around 4:30pm but it is still an amazing space to visit!

When you climb the slope to the castle, you get a beautiful view of the river. There are some seating spaces if you want to relax and enjoy the view or you can continue round the bend to the castle square. The architecture of the buildings is absolutely amazing - it is even more impressive in person. There’s a lovely little covered cafe where you can sit and take in the views with a snack or drink, which is a lovely way to pass the time!

If you do want to go inside the castle, select the exhibition(s) you are interested in here.

If you’re an animal lover, this gorgeous cafe is a must. You can have food and drinks if you want or can just opt to enter the bunny enclosure. You are given a small cup of snacks to feed the bunnies with - they are really natural snacks such as hay and flowers etc, meaning it is really safe to give to the bunnies.

There are two sections with several bunnies in each. They are really friendly and sociable and will come straight over to you. They seemed very relaxed and at ease when being stroked and would often come over to you first.

This was honestly the best hangover cure ever. We only stayed for around 30 minutes as we had to rush off to the airport but we easily could have stayed here longer. As bunny lovers, it was really nice to see that the bunnies seemed to be well cared for with strict rules for guests and supervision by staff at all times to make sure the rules are followed.

This is a really cute place to visit if you’re looking for something different to do and are an animal lover like us!

If you are looking for a fun, Instagrammable place to spend an evening- Bubble Toast is definitely the place to be! Visit during 5-7:30pm for their Happy Hour where you can enjoy 3 cocktails for £4! However if you’re attending outside of these times, everything is still fairly cheap with cocktails priced at around £5 each. I would recommend the sharer cocktails- we spent £11 each (£22 total) on a large fishbowl cocktail and 5 cocktail shots which is amazing value.

There were so many seating areas, a dance floor/club area and Instagrammable spots everywhere you turned! This is one of the best bars I’ve been to full stop, not just in Krakow, and I really recommend this! Whether you want a chilled girls night, date night or a more wild one- this bar has something for everyone.
