Women Love Business: A luxury shopping experience

On Thursday 6 February, I attended the #WomenLoveBusiness event. This concept was first created in 2018 by Lyn from The Edge Events who saw a gap in the Manchester market and wanted to design an event where business women could support and empower one another. The event has grown into a success with regular business women attending and providing sponsorship.

Held at Gusto Restaurant in Manchester, the evening aimed to provide an opportunity for guests to network and shop. The space was transformed into an intimate shopping experience, with Valentine's Day themed decor to match.

This particular event, sponsored by World Privilege Plus, also had a deeper meaning; raising awareness of the Tim Bacon Foundation, a charity close to Lyn's heart.

Gusto provided delicious canapes which circulated throughout the night, with a variety of cocktails prepared by Manchester Gin.

There were several brands in attendance, providing pop-up shops to showcase their brands. These included:
- Mike November Gymwear (ladies gym/casual wear supporting mental health)
- Just Naadiyas (elegant jewellery brand with Swarovski elements)
- Leesh (perfume perfect for every 'first' occasion)
- Face It Well Being (NuSkin luxury skincare and makeup)
- Arbonne (health, skincare and wellbeing products)
- WEE (digital brand offering cash-back opportunities to customers)

Guests were also provided with a complimentary hand massage from Molton Brown, as well as a goody bag which included amazing products from Kiehl's.

I attended the event as one of the six sponsors, with my brand Mike November. To read more about my brand, click here.

In short, Mike November is a ladies gymwear/casual wear brand which provides high quality apparel perfect for a variety of occasions. The phonetic 'MN' of Mike November is the term used within the emergency services to denote an individual suffering with their mental health. Our aim is to provide ongoing support and awareness of mental health, promoting a 'healthy body, health mind' lifestyle. Mike November is aligned to two mental health charities - Moodswings MCR and The Police Treatment Centres - who receive 10% of all proceeds made through the sale of our gymwear.

The Women Love Business event was the first time I had ever attended as a brand sponsor, rather than a blogger, so I was apprehensive as to how the night would go and whether it would be a success. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

Lyn was very professional, both before the event and on the night, explaining in detail the terms and conditions of sponsorship and managing brand expectations. We were provided with 24/7 support and a great package deal, for a very reasonable price. In addition, professional pictures were provided on the night from Alex Brown Photography & Cathy Taylor which meant that we could sit back, relax and network fully with the guests in attendance.

The venue was the perfect setting for the event as the space provided was small and intimate, meaning guests mingled properly and took full advantage of learning about the brands in attendance. It was a great opportunity to engage with guests and explain the story behind our brand, as well as enabling them to see the products in person. We had great feedback on our products and made a number of sales.

Overall, the night was a great success and I would definitely be interested in sponsoring another of Lyn's events in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed the pop-up shop experience and felt it was really beneficial as a new brand wanting to broaden our exposure.

Thank you to Lyn for putting together a fabulous evening and to all of the guests who made our first pop-up shop experience a success!
