Don Giovanni Christmas Taster

Hi guys,

I was recently invited to visit one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester, Don Giovanni, to sample their Christmas menu. I'm feeling so festive this year so what better way to prepare for the Christmas period than eating good food?!

The Christmas menu is £32.95 per person for 3 courses which I think is so reasonable! There is quite a wide selection of courses available too so it is a nice varied menu.

The menu is well equipped for all people as it includes a selection of both meat and vegetarian dishes. My only suggestion would be that there were two vegetarian dishes for the main course as the only current option is 'Wild Mushroom Risotto' so if you don't like mushrooms you have no other choice. Other than that, I think the menu includes a number of different options and caters for everyone.

STARTER

For my starter I opted for the Chicken & Duck Liver Pate which was amazing. It came with lovely crusty bread and a cranberry sauce which complimented the pate perfectly. I've never had cranberry sauce with pate before but I really enjoyed it - it was the perfect festive touch.

My friend chose the Crab Ravioli as I always rave on about how insane it is. It's safe to say she thoroughly enjoyed it.

MAIN

My friend chose the Salmon dish which was lovely. Although it comes with a side of vegetables, it is quite a small portion and didn't necessarily fill her up. I do think that this is the case in many of the restaurants in Manchester as I've had Salmon dishes before which have also been small portions so it isn't exclusive to Don Giovanni.

For my main, I of course had the Crab Ravioli. This is usually only a starter on the Christmas menu but the staff were really accommodating, as usual, and allowed me to have this as a main. It was absolutely amazing as usual - the crab is cooked to perfection and just melts in your mouth! I cannot recommend this dish more.

DESSERT

Dessert, the best part of the meal!

I chose the Tiramisu, as always. I really need to start branching out on my options for dessert but I just can't resist every time! Being part Italian, I've eaten a lot of Tiramisu in my time but Don Giovanni's version is out of this world. I'm not a massive fan of coffee so I can't explain why I love this so much. However, this just has a hint of coffee and is not too over-bearing which makes it perfect for me!

My friend opted for the Creme Brulee - one of her favourite desserts. There wasn't a crumb left in the dish! I think that's all that needs to be said.

OVERALL

One of the things I love about Don Giovanni, apart from how amazing the food is, is the presentation. They really take pride in the appearance of their dishes which, for me, is a big thing. I'm a very visual person so if something doesn't look well presented or appetising, it can really put me off.

I also have always been made to feel so welcome in their restaurant - the service is excellent every single time.

I want to thank Don Giovanni for asking me to sample their menu - I thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere and can't wait to visit again.
