I've had quite a few questions about the recent aesthetic treatments that I had done at Faces by AKJ so I thought I would do a mini Q&A to answer all of these questions in one place!
Does having your lips done hurt?
Personally, I think that the injections can be slightly painful. However, you are given numbing cream prior to the procedure and it is over within around 5 minutes!
Does having your chin/jaw done hurt?
No, not at all! I would say they are both more of a strange sensation as the filler is being added above a bone so it just feels like pressure. When having my jaw done, I also had a strange feeling in my ears like they were about to pop but there is no pain.
How long does filler last?
This varies for each person as it depends how much your body breaks the product down. However, the averages are:
Lips: 3 months
Jaw/Chin: 6 - 9 months
The filler may last longer but again, it depends on your body.
How much product should I have?
Again, this is personal preference and all depends on how you look to start with. For example, if you already have larger lips you might not need as much product as someone who has smaller lips. However, it does depend on the look you want to achieve.
I am not an aesthetics practitioner so it is best to contact the person you want to complete the treatment, send them some pictures and get some advice!
Are there any side effects?
After the procedure you may experience bruising or swelling. This is again due to your own body so it will vary from person to person. I don't suffer from bruising but my features do swell for a couple of days after the treatments. You may also experience slight discomfort but again, this will go within a couple of days.
What if I don't like the result?
Fillers are not a permanent fix so the filler can be completely reversed. This is done by the practitioner dissolving the filler from the particular area. Alternatively, you can wait 3-6 months and the filler will dissolve by itself.
