Make-up course @ Kimberley Make-up Studios

Hi guys,

Sorry that I haven't posted in a little while - life has been a bit hectic!

As some of you may know, I am obsessed with make-up and, as my love for experimenting with my own make-up has grown, I decided to enrol on a make-up course to learn a bit more! Everyone has those few make-up artists that they follow on Instagram and constantly look at and admire their work and I definitely have several!

I first noticed Kimberley (@kimberleymakeupstudios) a while ago when she first started running make-up courses and have wanted to go on one since so I decided to go for it and enrol on a day course with her.

MY COURSE EXPERIENCE

WHEN DID I ATTEND?

I attended on Friday 24 March with one of my friends.

WHICH COURSE DID I COMPLETE?

I completed the one day intense training course. This provides you with the opportunity to learn two different looks of your choice.

HOW MUCH DID THE COURSE COST?

The course was £290 in total, however, my friend and I split the course between us. We completed one look each of our choice.

WHERE WAS THE COURSE?

149 Station Road,
Swinton,
Lancashire
M27 6BU

Kimberley is based inside the Rehab salon downstairs.

WHAT ARE YOU REQUIRED TO TAKE?

You are not required to take anything at all make-up wise as all products and brushes are provided.

You will need to take someone with you to model for you as it is easier to learn each look on another person.

I would also recommend taking a notepad and pen to make notes as you go along as you learn a lot along the way and it is a lot of information to take in. You will more than likely use a lot of new products so it is handy to be able to jot these down in case you wish to purchase any products afterwards.

HOW WAS MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE?

I absolutely LOVED my day with Kimberley!

Initially I was quite nervous for the course. I think when you're new at something it is human nature to be quite self-conscious and over judgemental about your skills/ability but this quickly disappeared. Kimberley was so friendly and I felt so at ease throughout the day.

The course was a step-by-step guide which included guidance on eyebrows, eyes, lashes, face and lips. Kimberley completed each individual step first and I then completed the step directly after.

BROWS

I think that brows are so important nowadays so perfecting a brow on someone else is key.

I am used to using gel on my eyebrows but on this course I used Spiked by MAC. Getting used to an eyebrow pencil was a challenge but once I did, I much preferred the look that it gave and will definitely be purchasing this product ASAP!!

EYES

Eyes are also really key. I think that when choosing a make-up artist, people always look at the quality of the eye make-up so I think most people are keen to constantly develop their skills in this area and learn new looks.

I learnt so much when completing this look, even down to where to hold the brush to provide a more controlled application. I would definitely recommend completing a day course if you are wanting to brush up on your eye skills or learn a new look - it has definitely developed my skills and confidence.

FACE

I wanted to learn how to complete a dewy look as this is something that I don't usually do on myself. I used the MAC Strobe Cream in 'Pinklite' to prep the skin before applying foundation.

THE FINISHED LOOK

I was so happy with the look that I achieved! I learnt so many little tips that I will continue to use going forward.

SECOND LOOK

I received a certificate of recognition following the course which is great to add to your portfolio if you are looking to go into make-up full time.

Kimberley does a variety of different courses, including a 5 day evening course, which I will definitely be booking onto in the near future!

I would definitely recommend booking onto a course with Kimberley - I learnt so much in just one day and have already found doing my make-up so much better!

I hope you've found the above useful and have enjoyed reading.

Speak to you soon.

Love,
